Newfoundland Water Rescue Display: The Original Seafaring Doggos

Newfoundland dogs are big, fluffy, and gentle giants. They were originally bred to help fishermen in Newfoundland, Canada. These dogs are strong swimmers and can pull heavy loads. They are famous for rescuing sailors who fell overboard.

The Manvers Lake-Bears Working Newfoundlands (MLBWN) are a group of Newfoundland dog owners who are keeping this tradition alive. They train their dogs in water rescue and obedience.

We're so excited to announce MLBWN will be doing a water rescue demonstration at DogFest Yorkshire on the lake overseen by the beautiful Harwood House. Free with your festival ticket, you can watch these amazing dogs in action, simulating a sea rescue on the lake. After each demonstration, visitors will be invited to take a free boat ride and towed back to shore by the heroic hairy heroes.

You'll also have the opportunity to meet and greet and some of these gorgeous seafaring doggos including Lottie (Brown) and Samson (Black) here.

Newfoundland Demonstration Times

11am and 2pm on both the Saturday and Sunday. Followed by free boat rides and meet and greet.

Join us at Harewood House, come and meet Samson, pictured above and Lotty, pictured below.
