People’s Animal Welfare Society (PAW Society) is a foster-based rescue operating throughout the UK. Their ultimate aim is for the animals in their care to find homes of their own, so they assess each one in a home environment.
Not only is this better for the animals’ wellbeing, but it also allows the charity to understand their quirks, likes, and dislikes in a way that isn’t always possible in kennels. They gain valuable insights into how the animals behave around other pets or children, which means they can accept applications from a wide range of families. As one of the few rescues insured to rehome to families with children, they are especially proud of their ability to support families with additional needs to adopt rather than buy a pet.
Their biggest passions include:
Worldwide rescue – People’s Animal Welfare Society believe all animals are entitled to safety and love, regardless of where they were born. In addition to their work in the UK, they support animals across European countries where legal protections for animals may be limited.
Spay and neuter campaigns – While they love what they do, they hope for a future where all animals are safe. By neutering stray animals, they help reduce pressure on the rescue sector for years to come.
“Wonky” pets – Many animals struggle to find rescue space due to health conditions, old age, or disabilities. These so-called “wonkies” hold a special place in the charity’s heart. Whether living with epilepsy, missing eyes, or spinal injuries, these pets are just as deserving of love—and often give even more in return.
