Established in 2012, German Shepherd Rescue Elite (GSRE) is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming unwanted, abandoned, and neglected German Shepherds. Just as importantly, the charity focuses on educating the public about the responsibilities of owning a large working breed, aiming to prevent dogs from needing rescue in the first place. In recent years, GSRE has also extended its support to Belgian Shepherd Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Herders, as few rescues are equipped to handle these working breeds. GSRE runs entirely on donations and grants to fund the work they do.

A registered charity and full member of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH), GSRE is also part of the EU Dog and Cat Alliance, advocating for better welfare standards across Europe. Their proactive approach ensures that every dog receives the care, rehabilitation, and support they need to find a suitable forever home.

In 2023, GSRE was able to purchase its own kennels in Cornwall, now home to 40 dogs. The facility is overseen by Dave Wardell, best known for Fabulous Finn. Every penny donated goes directly towards the care and welfare of the dogs.
GSRE’s greatest asset is its volunteers, advocating that their dedication, commitment, and hard work enable the charity to help countless dogs each year. Every volunteer plays a vital role, making a direct impact on the lives of German Shepherds in need.
