‘Beanie was a seven-year-old rescue Beagle. It was clear from her very first journey with us to her new home that she had never been introduced to travel as a puppy…. Internal valet needed straight away!’ Jennie from Motorpoint

There is nothing quite like the feeling of getting away for a few days, leaving behind work, house chores and the daily grind of life. One thing most of us hate to leave behind, however, are our canine fur babies! So how do we make sure along with the rest of the family that our four-legged friends are comfortable on their travels in your motor?

For most of our canine friends, introducing them to the front seat of a car whilst stationary, windows open, progressing to small, regular, short journeys provides the basis for a good doggy travel companion.

If, like us you find yourself with a pooch who has never found their road legs, the following tips may help… along with plenty of rest stops.

1. Lavender oil dabbed on a blanket in the car can help to calm your pooch whereby anxiety may be the trigger of travel sickness.

2. Plan your journey to ensure plenty of rest stops and fresh air for your furry friend. All Motorpoint stores across the country are dog friendly so pop in for a coffee and a pooch stop!

3. Pack a resealable water bowl so they can drink at every stop.

4. There are lot’s of companies offering natural oil spot on remedies. This really helped with Beanie. They were able to make the 20 minute journey to the vets with no valet needed!

Safe travels!
